FRANK O’HARA — MEDITATIONS IN AN EMERGENCY

This collection of poems arrived to me in a care package. The circumstances of sheltering in place greatly affected my reading. Some of the poems in Meditations in an Emergency are about watching movies, some about staying indoors. I found myself aligned with Mr. O’Hara in a push against confinement, but also an acceptance of the virtues of not doing all that much. It will be interesting to revisit this collection when I am free to move around. Read, April 2020.
