JESSICA SEQUEIRA — A FURIOUS OYSTER

Storm in Buenos Aires

What caught my eye about this novel was both the title and the publishing imprint, Dostoevsky Wannabe, which I’ll plug just because I find it a very good name for a publishing imprint. A Furious Oyster may or may not be the sort of thing they regularly publish. The story held me when it let characters do mundane stuff that people do, less so when it made them mouthpieces for heady ideas about literature and poetry and Neruda. I read it at a very peaceful cabin in the Ardennes while my wife was picking through river stones for fossils. We were celebrating a wedding anniversary.
