STELLA GIBBONS — COLD COMFORT FARM
Came in a paper bag of books from my uncle. Reads like P.G. Wodehouse with more care lavished on plot and prettier sentences (some of them, anyway). Yeah, sentences, there are some beauties in there. And wit. But not too many laughs for me. The only part I really found funny was that one of the characters (a rustic among an extended cast of rustics) uses a twig to wash dishes. He refuses to use anything else. Inspired stuff, that twig. Funny.
